David Agron is the owner of Agron & Associates, Inc., a Christian college accreditation consulting firm. “Primarily what we do is accreditation, consulting, and helping small Christian colleges achieve their initial accreditation,” David explained.

He was looking for help with managing and marketing his business for growth and reached out to the University of La Verne SBDC. David was connected with SBDC consultant Malcolm Geffen to help manage and grow the business.

Challenges

Agron & Associates, Inc. had challenges managing their business and keeping up with marketing to grow their business. “David, the problem you have is when you're busy with consulting." You're not marketing, and then, finally, a client gets done with accreditation and doesn't need you anymore. You lose a client, and now you have to scramble,” David described Malcolm's assessment. David also had technical challenges related to marketing the business and using social media.

“I appreciate the variety of services, and at different times, and you know, if I can take advantage of the different services that you offer, even though my main area has been marketing, nothing takes care pretty much with what I need.”

Solutions

Malcolm advised David on how to reorient how to market the business. So instead, you have to do a trickle of marketing all the time, and one of the first things he had me do was to take my large prospect list and send 150 emails per week to my you know, 1,500 prospects,” David explained.

David was able to receive assistance with setting up a Calendly scheduling account to book clients directly from the website. David also received additional technical assistance with setting up Zoom webinars. “Look at the guys he got working for you. Maybe they can only do it 80% as well as you can do it. But let them do it, you can, you know, guide them and mentor them. And basically, it was quote, unquote with being the control freak”

Results

David has been able to grow his business and manage it effectively enough to add a new offering to further grow the company. “So I'm seeing another niche, I can add is to start marketing assessment services outsourcing your assessment, and headaches to the schools starting to market. To them a few years before they start seeking reaffirmation,” David explained
