Mighty River Wellness is a fertility acupuncture, and integrative health practice in Los Angeles, CA. Beck Hoehn LAc initially came to the University of La Verne SBDC for assistance in applying for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
"When the world shut down all the issues and nightmares I stressed out about as weaknesses in our business all became true in a matter of moments. It was glaringly obvious in the middle of a pandemic that I needed to recession-proof my business. I had NO IDEA how to do any of that. My friend recommended I seek guidance from the SBDC,” Hoehn said.
During the first few months, Beck began working with Jeffrey Wolf and junior consultant Annie. They both provided her with foundational business, growth strategies, and "how to survive" basics. That knowledge inspired her to move forward and develop a strategy to increase business.
Working with the SBDC is the best choice I have ever made. Their support, guidance and encouragement is small business owners need to grow and expand. It is a privilege to gain exposure to such amazing talented people to help along the way!
Beck continues to work with another University of La Verne SBDC consultant Louise. "Louise served as a guiding encouraging light. Her coaching and optimistic outlook give the team a lot of hope that we will be able to scale the business and guide more people through their fertility journey. Louise constantly helps us implement successful strategies and shows us what is possible" explained Beck.
Thanks to the University of La Verne SBDC, Mighty River Wellness was able to receive their $78,000 EIDL loan, grow their business through marketing consulting, as well as hire additional employees. They eventually were able to transform their "Hodgepodge group to an organized team with systems and clear goals and outlined responsibilities," according to Beck.
